EGGS DOWN AGAIN.

Speaking generally, fruit is plentiful at the. marts. Extra fancy Delicious apples show au increase on last week's values, while Hawke's Bay Stunners are also selling well. There is an improved demand for all apples, and large quantities of pears are offering. Oranges have been heavy of sale, witii a slightly increased price. Bananas are substantially lower, those from the Jlaui Pom are missing the market, and finding conditions somewhat altered. There will be a fresh stock on Monday from Fiji, ex the Tofua. Selling details are:—Apples: Delicious, extra fancy, 11/ to 12/; others, S/8 to 10/, Winesaps, 8/ to 10/; Stunners. Hawkes Bay, 10/ to 11/; Doughertys, 6/ to 8/b, Munroes, 9/6 to 10/6. Pears: Coles, j/b to 10/; Nellis, 7/ to 9/6; Josephines, 6/6 to 7/6; p. Barry, 7/ to 8/ Tree tomatoes: 4/ to 7/6. Tomatoes: Hothouse, 6u to 1/b lb. Lemons: No. 1, 10/ to 16/; ho. 2, 6/ to 8/. Oranges: Island repacks, 16/ to 20/; Australian Navels, 13/ to 16/; Poor*; man. No. 1 (N.Z. grapefruit). 5/ to 6/; small, 3/ to 4/. Bananas: First grade, ripe, 23/ to 27/; second grade, 8/ to 10/; green, Samoan, 10/ to 14/. Mandarins: 14/ to 21/. Pines: 16/ to 22/. Passions: IG/6 to IS./. Lemons: 12/6 to 18/. Grapefruit: Australian, 15/ to 20/. Vegetables.
In the vegetable section the market is heavily supplied with pumpkins, cabbages, and swede turnips, and also with all root crops. Potatoes are selling at 1/ more per ewt than last week, while lettuces also have an upward tendency. Citron melons show an increase of 2/ per cwt on last week's values. Selling quotations are:— Potatoes: Southern, 9/6 to 10/6 cwt; new, IVid to 5%d lb. Onions, Southern, 10/6 to 12/6 cwt; kumaras, local 4/ to 6/ bag, Tauranga 10/G to 12/6 cwt; cabbage, 1/6 to 6/ sack; cauliflower, 3/ to 11/; swedes, 1/6 to 2/ bag: pumpkins, 4/ to 7/ cwt; beans, 1/6 to 2/3 lb; lettuce, 2/6 to 8/6 case; cucumbers, hothouse, 6/ to 9/ dozen; vegetable marrows, • 1/6 to 3/6 dozen; citron melons, 8/ to 12/ ewt; cabbage, on benches, ]/ to 3/ dozen; cauliflower, on benches, 2/ to 9/6 dozen; celery, 1/ to 4/9 bundle; rhubarb, 3/6 to 5/ dozen; spinach, 9d to 1/ dozen; pumpkins, on benches, 6d to 1/6 each; spring onions, Cd to 1/ bundle; radish, 6d to 9d dozen; carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips, 6d to 9d dozen; leeks, 3d to 3!& bundle; chokos, 1/ to 1/6 dozen. Eggs and Butter. Eggs have not maintained last week's increase, selling about 3d a dozen lower. Supplies are moderate, with the usual good demand. Current prices for first quality are: Hen eggs, A grade, 1/6 to 1/8 dozen; B grade, 1/5 to 1/6 dozen; duck eggs, A grade, 1/5 to 1/7 dozen; B grade, 1/3 to l/'o dozen. Farmers' butter aa usual remains in keen demand with supplies short. Prices j are: 1/1 to 1/4 per lb.
