Begg. who has been appointed by the Empire Cancer Fund to come to New Zealand to continue his cancer research work at the Otago Medical •School, was educated at Otago Boys' High School and Otago University. The outbreak of war interrupted his medical studies, and he served with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force on Gallipoli from the landing until the evacuation. He qualified in medicine and surgery 311 1919, and, after spending a year as a house surgeon at the Tiuiaru Hospital, left New Zealand to engage in further studies in Europe. He was engaged in research work at Freiburg, Germany, and has travelled very extensively in Europe to make observations in connection with cancer research.
