| ANOTHER WIN AT TIMARU. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARU, Thursday. Tho Australian hockey team defeated South Canterbury at Geraldine to-day by 4 goals to 1. The ground was heavy and this handicapped tho players. The home team put up a good fight but the combination of the visitors was the deciding factor. Australia had the better of play in the first half and led at the interval by 3 goals to 0. South Canterbury improved in the second half, but the forwards lacked finish and good scoring chances were thrown away. In spite of the heavy ground the game was an interesting one. j

TAUTRANGA COMPETITIONS.
TAURANGA, Thursday. The final for the Innes Cup hockey competition, between Rovers and United, was woo by Rovers by three goals to two. In the ladies' competition for the Harris Cup Aretas are leading. The Press Cup competition for men's teams will be commenced on Wednesday next, and the Kent Cup competition on August 28. The Tauranga ladies' team visited Rotorua yesterday and were defeated by Rotorua, s—o.
