POVERTY BAY HUNT.

THE ANNUAL MEETING. TO-MORROW'S PROGRAMME. ) THE FIELDS REVIEWED. J The Poverty Bay Hunt Club will hold ■ their annual race meeting at the Gis- | borne Racing Club's course to-morrow. ■ Fairly good fields are engaged in most of the events and some interesting sport should be witnessed. Only five are engaged in the opening event, the Hunters' Hurdles, and two of them—Garzon and Purseproud—claim engagements in subsequent races. Taking past form into consideration, probably the favourite division will be GARZON PURSEPROUD. Five only are engaged in the Awapuni Hurdles. Jen and Abisogne both ran fair races at the recent Gisborne meeting, while Kingi Pita won well on the second day, with Nightwitch third. Perhaps the best backed will be ABISOGNE KINGI PITA. The Hexton Handicap has drawn a much better field than the two preceding events. Bold Front, who is at the top of the handicap, dead-heated for second in a mile and a-quarter race at Gisborne last week and was also second over seven furlongs. He should go well. Patutahi won two events, a six and scven-furlong race, at the same fixture, while Superb King failed in each of his efforts, but he should do better to-morrow. Tea Lady was second over 6ix furlongs at Gisborne, but subsequently failed in her next two starts. Tall Timber was fourth in two six-furlong events at the same meeting, and Kinsel ran two thirds. Plimmerton may be the best of the others. Perhaps most money will go on BOLD FRONT SUPERB KING.

The Ferguson Gold Cup Steeplechase has attracted a field of nine. Woden won the Te Hapara with 9.13 and now has 12.2, but the minimum is 10.7, as against 9.0, so that he is really only up 101b when the two scales are compared. Abisogne has yet to prove himself over country, but Revel was going well at Gisbornc last Saturday in tho Te Hapara Steeplechase when he fell. Highway failed at the same meeting, but Banjuko won the Gisborne Steeplechase, though lie failed in the Te Hapara Steeplechase on the second day, being a long way back fourth. He may do better to-morrow. Ponjola won the Tramway Steeplechase by a narrow margin from Woden at the Gisborne meeting, while Master Arch was third in the Gisbornc Steeplechase and second in the Te Hapara Steeplechase. Perhaps the best supported will be

MASTER ARCH ROYAL HEATHER. The Swarthmoor Trial Handicap has drawn nine acceptors, and on the form displayed in maiden events at the recent # Gisborne meeting the chief fancies when the machine closes may be CHRONIC DONNETTE. The Hunters' Bracelet has not attracted a very good lot, and probably the best supported when betting ceases may be FALL 0' THE YEAR TALL TIMBER. The meeting will conclude with the Rapanui Hack Handicap, and the chicf fancies when the machine closcs may be PATUTAHI RICH HARVESTMANGAHAREI BRACKET.
