DESTITUTE YOUNG MAN.
SENTENCED FOR BEGGING.

The young Scotsman, William Morrison, who a fortnight ago was sentenced to one month's imprisonment for begging, is to be released immediately. The Rev. H. E. Jones, vicar of Frankton, yesterday received the following telegram from the Minister of Justice, the Hon. T. M. Wilford: "Aye you pre' pared to take charge of William Morrison? If 60, he will be released immediately." Mr. Jones had been in communication with the Minister for som«! days, and he had also consulted Mr. J. A. Young, M.P., regarding Morrison's case. , Mr. Jones promptly replied that he would take charge of Morrison. He asks anyone with employment or clothes to offer to communicate with him.
Morrison was sentenced by two local justices, Messrs. J. S. Browne and B. 0, Lowry. His sentence and Mr. Browne's remarks resulted in a shoal of newspaper correspondence and in questions in the House of Representatives.
