THE RELIEF MEETING.
ARRANGING THE PROGRAMME.
MEETING THIS AFTERNOON.
The arranging of a programme and the fixing of'a date for the earthquake relief fund meeting, to be put on next month by the Auckland Trotting Club, will bo disposed of at a meeting of the committee to be held this afternoon. The fixture is welcomed by owners and trainers who have horse* in preparation for the spring gatherings, and there will be a number of noises seen out that would otherwise not have raced till the country fixtures came along. The committee, desiring to get the best results for the fund, has taken into consideration all week-end counter attractions, and the chances are that the date settled upon will be Saturday," August 31. No date has yet been fixed for the combined meeting to be staged by the Metropolitan, Canterbury Park and New Brighton Trotting Clubs. The meeting will be held at Addington, and the Government has restricted the total amount to be given in rtakes at £2000.
