SHOW CLOSING.
FINAL SESSION TO-NIGHT.
WINNING BABY CHOSEN.
HIGHLAND DANCING FEATURED.
Highland dancing was the feature of the session of the Winter Exhibition this afternoon. A varied programme had been arranged by the Auckland Highland Dancing Society, and a large growd of interested visitors watched lads and lasses performing Highland flings, sword dances and reels. Highland dancing will be held again this evening, at the final session of the show.
After a contest that was unexpectedly interesting, the baby championship was decided last night. Prizes were awarded this afternoon to the parents of the winning babies, who were: — Baby Grogan, 1325 points 1 Baby Mildon, 1237 points 2 Baby O'Sullivan, 1016 points 3 Baby Diclcman, who was at one stage leading, was fourth, with 901 points. The contest, which was the first to be held at a winter exhibition, met unquestionable success in its object of providing human interest. Excitement ran high just before the voting closed last night, and when the result was announced there was unusual enthusiasm.
Although yesterday's takings showed a decrease of £22 on the corresponding day of last year, the total takings are still in excess of those of the previous show. The sum of £325 was taken yesterday, and the total to date is £3197, compared with £3193 last year. Over 1700 children, accompanied by 60 schoolteachers, were admitted free to the exhibition yesterday.
