HINUERA DAIRY CO.

INCREASED PRODUCTION

MATAMATA, Friday

The annual meeting of shareholders Of the Hihuera Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., was held in the Hinuera Hall, yesterday, With a record attendance. The chairman of directors, Mr. J. E. West, in his annual report, stated that the past season was the most successful the company had experienced. The output had increased by about 20 per cent, whilst quality had also continued to show improvement. The total payout was the second, highest the company, had made since it commenced operations seven years ago. Manufacturing costs had been reduced from £17 6/8 per ton last year to £14 19/10, .with factorycharges 1.208 d, against last season's 1.423 d. Other costs were Correspondingly reduced, ! amounting in all to nearly %d per lb butterfat. The directors had decided to double the size of the present building and instal additional plant to the value of £1400. The latter would further reduce manufacturing costs. The butter manufactured during the season totalled 665 tons, with an average payout of 1/6.65. Some considerable time at the meeting was' occupied in discussing the matter of tfie election of directors. During the year the system had been changed by the directors, who had adopted the Ward system. The postal ballot had shown that plumping had been indulged in in connection with Ward 6, in which Messrs. G. Johnston and I. Black were successful. The chairman ruled that plumping was contrary to the articles of association, and the election was declared void. It was decided that a fresh election for two directors be held—this being under the system of election formally ruling. A discussion also took place regarding the Company trading, but no resolution was carried, the feeling of the meeting being that the company should contihu# its operations on behalf of shareholders.
