A British official wireless message says • a nother of the lead--1 — ing players was •beaten yesterday when in the third round Nigel Sharpc (England) defeated do ilorp u rgo (Italy). The young Englishman Austin, who defeated Hunter (America) won «a further round yesterday, beating Brugnou (France) ' in straight sets. Another interesting match was that between Boiissus (France) and Coon (America). The latter is a young and promising protege of Tilden's. He was beaten 6—l, 10—8, 7 —5. In the third round of the ladies' singles Signorina D'Alvarcz beat' Miss Ryan, and Miss Helen Jacobs beat Mr?. Lycett. Miss Michell beat Miss Nuthall, G—.l, C—and Miss Heine beat Miss Covol!, (i—2, 7—5. In the first'round of the men's doubles Andrews (New Zealand) and Kozcluh beat, Dower and Maddoek, 7 —5, 3 —o, C—3, o—3. In the mixed doubles Tilden and Mrs. Mallory beat von Kelirling and Miss Sanderson, o—2,0 —2, o—2.0 —2.
