THE TRUTH ABOUT WAR.
I see no reason whatever why such a hook as "All Quiet on the Western Front" should he banned, when, with its superbness of ideal and liiglincss of principle, it is by far the greatest war novel ever published. I have been lueky enough to get a copy, and I see no reason why others less fortunate should not be_ able to read it. True, it is so exact in its simplicity that it introduces many words, phrases and expressions which, though in common use among the soldiers, are unprintable, but this was war. The book makes one realise forcibly that war is not a romance, adventure or a necessity, but an unnecessary evil^
