MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.
WORK IN TEMPORARY ROOMS. The Missions to Seamen building in Emily Place has been sold to the Wai-kato-Maniapoto Native Land Board, and temporary rooms for the institute have been secured in Simicli Buildings, Customs Street West. These rooms have the advantage of being near the wharf, and will be occupied by the Flying Angel Mission from July 1. Later in the year the committee hope to have plans prepared for the new building, and in the meantime are trying to raise £2000 more towards the building fund. The Governor-General recently made an eloquent appeal for support in' the work that the Mission to Seamen is doing.
The social club of s.s. Corinthic entertained their shipmates and friends at the institute during the week, and next evening a party of Sea Scouts, with their officers, enjoyed the hospitality of the mission. A series of ships, ancient and modern, was screened by Chaplain H. Iv. Vickery. Mr. Wynne Grey entertained the visitors with conjuring. The competitions were keenly contested, and were won by Sea Scouts G. Lublock (Hawke) and J. Pirimona (Hawke). Refreshments were served by the ladies of Harbour Lights Guild.
