SWIMMING, ATHLETIC, AND MODEL YACHTS. The pupils of the Stanley Bay School delivered a most enjoyable concert last nielit in the Mission Hall, Stanley Bay. Mr R T Anderson -acted as chairman, and prizes were presented by Mr. B. Aldridge, Mayor o£ Dcvonport, for swimming and aquatic events. The school championship medal was awarded to Master llov Johnson, and in the model vacht club '(Robinson Cup), the medal was awarded to Master'J. Johnson. Under the direction ot Mrs. A. E. Stretton and Mrs. A Fisher, the children performed in admirable style, and an appropriate closing event was rendered as each child in costume represented a country, with Britannia in the centre. Much credit is due to Captain Redmond, who placed his services at the disposal of the children to teach them swimming. An interesting display of life-saving and physical culture was given last evening by members of the Belmont Girls' Efficiency Club. Mr. .T. W. Williamson, Mayor of Takapuna, who presided at the presentation of awards, medals and cer:ificates, mentioned that three records had been established. ' The first was the fact that 818 pupils of the Takapuna Grammar School, out of a roll attendance of 408, had obtained certificates for swimming, as issued by the New Zealand Council, the best previous record for a school being 301. The second was the. winning of a gold medal presented by the chairman of the Auckland Centre (Dr. Pettlt) to Mrs. S. J. Atkins, whose pnplls got the greatest number of awards in life-saving. The third was in regard to Miss Nancy Ludlow, who qualified for a certificate on her fourteenth birtlidav, it being impossible, under the rules, to secure the certificate at a younger age.
