ROCK IN COBDEN QUARRY.
FIFTEEN WORKERS ESCAPE
BOULDER BOUNCED OVERHEAD

GREYMOUTH, Monday
The moet spectacular incident of the earthquake was the falling of 100,000 tons of rock at the Cobden quarry, where 15 men were working. They had just
enough time to get clear as pieces of rock weighing many tons rolled across the road. The fall is far greater than anv secured by explosives. One woukman, named Kelly, was struck 011 the leg by a stone.
One man in C'obden was passing the quarried when he noticed a mass of rock bounding toward him. He bent down and a great boulder bounced over hie head into the river.
From Greymouth the stream of moving rock presented a wonderful sight..
