MOUNT WELLINGTON AFFAIRS.
At a meeting of the Mount Wellington Road Board last evening, a letter from the Main Highways Board was received, stating that the Westfield Freezing Company would make no objection to the erection of mechanical warning devices at the private railway crossing on the Great South Road. It M-as, however, resolved that any such erection should not relieve the company of the maintenance of a man on the crossing, under the terms of the tramway license.
Action in the complaint of ratepayers in the southern portions of the district concerning a refuse tip within the Otahuhu borough was refused on the grounds that it was a matter for the Otahuhu Borough Council.
With regard to the installation of .standard road signs, the Transport Advisory Council suggested the calling of tenders as a saving in cost. They considered that metal signs were preferable on account of their greater durability. The erection ot ten additional street lamps was decided Upon. iIWWHGH
