MINING NEWS.
ALBURNIA COMPANY. HALF-YEAR'S REPORT. The half-yearly report of the Alburnia Gold Mining Company, just issued, coutains a full report from the mine manager, Mr J H. Benney, of recent operations and of the work ahead. Mr. Benney said it had been proved that gold formerly worked in the upper levels was extending downward and below the present level and had opened up what was practically a new mine on the Alburnia Hill. Work hillward was very encouraging when u was noted that the company had from laO to 200 feet' of backs above the present working and that as development extended hillward, virgin country, proved to be goldbearing, was being worked. The capital ot the company is 180,000 shares of 3/ each, £27,000, of which 100 979 share.s have been issued, the paidup capital being £12,512 3/6. Assets are: Mine property, £9174; plant and tools, £875; cash and allotments due, £6280. The expenditure in the period was £2137 and this is shown as a debit balance in the balance-sheet.
