DIMNESS OF LIGHT.
EFFECT OF ARAPUNI SUPPLY.
MERELY TEMPORARY.
ADJUSTMENTS BEING MADE.
There has been a little trouble in Auckland recently owing to the quality of the electric light at certain hours. An explanation of the difficulty has been given by the general manager of the Auckland Electric Power Board (Mr. R. H. Bartley). He said this morning that until the haudralic governors were adjusted, as a result of the changeover to the Arapuni supply, certain experiments would have to be made. It was all a matter of adjustment.
"We have been at it for about a week now," he said, "and by to-morrow, or in the course of a day or two, the supply will possibly be all right. It is quite obvious that we are not in a position to 'play about' with the power, and experiments are essential until everything is in working order. As soon as Arapuni gets settled down, and we know exactly what they are going to do adjustments have to bo made. In fact, we are in the experimental stage for a few days. The adjustments are made with hydraulic governors, and various pressures have necessarily to bo tried, and we must iind the means. When this is done we will have our lighting always the same."
The power board hopes that within a few days the Arapuni supply will be permanently established.
