BRICKS AND PIPES.
WELLINGTON MERGER
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON; Thursday.
One of the largest industrial transactions of recent times in the Wellington district is likely to be completed in the immediate future. The outlines of a scheme for the amalgamation of substantial interests in the brick and drainpipe industry in the Wellington Province have been agreed to by the directors of various companies. Definite details are not available, but it is understood the interested parties comprise Murphy Bros., Ltd., Gasco Pressed Bricks, Ltd., and Silverstream Brick and Tile Company, Ltd., and that options are held in favour of the proposed new company over the works of Peter Hutson and Company, Ltd., the Wanganui Brick and Pipe Company, Ltd., and the Wairarapa Brick, Tile and Drainpipe Company, Ltd., of Carterton. The Wellington Concrete Pipe Company is also included in the organisation. The total sum involved is likely to reach £350,000.
