BADMINTON.
NORTHERN CLUB'S TOURNEY. PROGRESS OF CHAMPIONSHIP. /The Northern Badminton Club's second annual open championships were advanced a stage further last evening when the semifinals of the combined doubles were reached. The floor of the hall had been washed to counteract the surface from a dance held the previous evening, but was wet and holding, a fact that was not conducive to fast play. The best game of the evening was that between Dart and Miss B. Solomon and Jones and Mrs. Dart. There was more combination and understanding between the players than was evident in any of the other games. The following are the results: —Rishworth and Mrs. Langguth beat Paul and Miss Paul, 15 —8, 15 —4 ; Kelly and Miss Newson beat I. Ellett and Miss Miller, 15—S, 15—10; C. Ellett and Miss Ellett beat A. Paine ana Miss Reynolds, 15 —0, 15 —5 ; Kissling and Miss K. Waters beat Martin and Miss D. Miller, 15 —9, 15 —12 ; Dart and Miss B. Solomon beat Langguth and Miss Rennie. 15—3, 15 —2; Jones and Mrs. Dart beat J. Key and Miss McLaughlin, 15 —4, 15 —3 ; Wilson and Miss M. Waters beat James and Miss K. Reynolds, 15 —8, 15—3 ; Solomon and Miss Solomon beat Tonks and Miss Key, 15 —9, 12—15, 15 —7. Second round : Kelly and Miss Newson beat Rishworth and Mrs. Langguth, 15—8. 18—13; C. Ellett and Miss Ellett beat Kissling and Miss K. Waters, 15—9, 15—10; Wilson and Miss M. Waters beat Solomon and Miss Solomon, 15—s, S —ls, 15—6; Dart and Miss Solomon beat Jones and Mrs. Dart, 15—9, 15—12.
