GALE ON COAST.
SHIPPING DELAYED. BARON MACLAY HOVE-TO. Shipping is being delayed by a heavy south-east gale on the Ka*t Coast. Die Golden Cross, which sailed for ban Francisco yesterday afternoon, returned to port last-night, Captain Curtis considering that the weather was too thick to risk passing through the outlying islands in a light ship. A radio received this morning from the Baron Maclay, en route from Galvveston, Texas, states that she is hovc-to in a south-east gale a hundred miles off Cuvier Island. She previously expected to reach Auckland this morning, but she cannot now arrive until to-morrow. So far the itineraries of coastal services are not greatly affected. The Huntingdon, which wa? to leave Gisborno last night for Auckland, is delayed there, being unable to work cargo owing to the weather. The Northern Company's steamer Kawau, en route from Auckland to Mangawai, is sheltering from the gale at Ti Point. It is doubtful whether she can return to Auckland in time to make her xisual trip to Big Omaha to-morrow morning.
