A MOTORIST ARRESTED. INTOXICATION CHARGE. MAGISTRATE SYMPATHETIC. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., was quite sympathetic towards Leslie Roy Pliunmer (24), a storeman, who came before the Police Court this morning charged with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of his car in Elliot Street on Saturday night. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said Plummer had been attending a reunion of engineers on Saturday and had taken more liquor than was good for him. He left the rooms where the_ function was being held and went to his car to have a sleep. Mr. Hunt: Where else could lie go except to his car, which was his own property? Sub-Inspector McCarthy: He might have awakened and attempted to drive away. Mr. Alan Smyth, who appeared for accused, said Plummer had no intention of driving away. He had done the best thing by going to his car in a quiet street and Sleeping off the effects of the liquor. Plummer was a respectable man and had never been in trouble before. "He has been punished enough and will be convicted and discharged,-"' said Mr. Hunt.
