MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
CHANGE AT ONEHUNGA. ME. SPEIGHT LOSES SEAT. The correction of a clerical error in the course of the official count revealed that Mr. P. B. Lipscombe had replaced Mr. B. B. Speight as a member of the Oneliunga Borough Council. On the night of the preliminary count Mr. Speight was shown as having 1655 votes, and Mr. Lipscombe 1611. • The official count reverses this position, Mr. Lipscombe having 1601 votes and Mr. Speight 1542. Both were sitting members. The official figures are: — The Mayoralty. Mr. E. Morton 1277 Mr. H. A. Stoupe 1119 Majority for Morton .... 158 Borough Council. Successful: Messrs. T. H. Geraghty, 1925] J. Pilkington, 18S4; H. Campling, 1844; A. C. Tonkin, 1806; F. W. Mountjoy, 1745; S. Vella, 1703; W. C. Hill, 1694; G. A. McKendrick, 1607; P. B. Lipscombe, 1598. Unsuccessful: Mr. E. G. Speight.
