DEVONPORT LOAN POLLS.
BOTH PROPOSALS CARRIED. The Devonport ratepayers had submitted to them two loan proposals. No. 1 asked them to ratify the raising of £4300 to pay for land taken under the Public Works Act to widen Victoria Road, to straighten the frontage of Cheltenham Beach, and to purchase a section on Cheltenham used as a source of sand supply. No. 2 proposal was to raise £1900 to build a seawall at Vauxhall Beach. Both proposals were carried. The voting was:— No. i Proposal.—£43oo Loan. For the proposal 871 Against the pr0p05a1...... 609 Majority for the Iban. 262 No. 2 Proposal.—£l9oo Loan. For the proposal 691 Against the proposal..... 556 Majority for the loan. 135 1
