FINAL DAY AT TE RAPA. LUCY ROSE WINS HANDICAP. CYBELE'S RAGLAN HURDLES. LION A TAKES OHINEWAI. The autumn meeting of the Waikato Racing Club is being concluded to-day at Te Rapa. The weather is favourable, but the track is holding. There is a fair attendance. Favourite Just Beaten. Although the first choice of backers, Kawini. did not win the Raglan Hurdles, the opening event, he only went under }>v a short neck to the fourth fancy Cybele. Vivo, Higliflown, and Monday were the course withdrawals, and Kawini was made favourite carrying £318, with Ripon Abbey second choice with £251. Star Comet carried £190 and the winner, Cybele, £188. Ripon Abbey as usual went out to set the pace and passing the stand he led from Ned Kelly, Spancilhill, Cybele, Uralla, Boomerday, Glena Bay, Star Comet and Kawini. Spaneilliill came to grief at ix fence along the back wbere Ripon Abbey was still bowling along in front with Ned Kelly almost on terms. Glena Bay, Cybele, Uralla, Boomerday, Star Comet, and Kawini were following in that order. Ripon Abbey led across the top from Glena Bay, Boomerday, Cybele, Kawini, Uralla and Star Comet. Cybele then put in a run and was firse to turn for home from Boomerday, Glena Bay. Kawini and Star Comet. Kawini threw out a strong challenge in the run home but failed by a short neck to reach Cybele. Sta- Comet was two and alialf lengths avay t'liid, and then followed Uralla. Bey. In a field of 20 in the Oliinewai Handicap ba'-kers fuilv.l to hit the target, and the winner turned up in Liona, with tho little fancied Little Toy second, the unlucky horse of the race being Pouipeiu*. who after being badly left finished third. Look Out v.as installed favourite with £482, next best supported being Parfait Amour £452, and Princess Snow £246. The winner, Liona, carried £119, and Little Toy £65 10/. At the jump off Pompeius, Queenstown and Pai Ana were left. Townsman. Look Out, Joy Girl and King Leslie were first to become prominent, but when the straight was reached Princess Snow was out in front of Look Out, Parfait Amour, and Tuku. Parfait Amour was in charge half-way down the running, but then Liona and Little Toy came along, and the pair fought out the finish. Liona getting the verdict bv a neck from Little Toy.'with Pompeius. who made up a lot if ground, two lengths away, third. Princess Snow was fourth, followed by Parfait Amour. Rangikalia, Tuku, Pai Ana jnl King Leslie. The Juveniles. The Te Awamutu trainer, F. Loomb, produced his second winner when Flvin* Prince won the Eureka Handicap. *The favourite was Motere, £623, with Fraser £353 and Royal Finance £278, next best supported. The winner carricd £259. \ alstreet played up at the start and Mas badly left. Pellette and Crimestor ! wer P first out, but before reaching the top Awamutu had run to the front and he had charge from Crimestor, Royal I Finance, Pellette, Rose Lupin, Currajong | and Fraser. Trig, Genilight, Motere and Awamutu. Favourite At Last. The Te Rapa Handicap, the chief item of the afternoon, saw the favourite wi" for the first time of the meeting. This was Lucy Rose, the black filly, carrying £572. Mervette w*is second choice with £553. and Benzora had £512 invested on his chance. Corinax ruled seventh in order, with £276. Thursbv was first to move, but he did not hold his position long, and the running was' taken up by Day Guard, who led along the back from Maeroom. Hakanoa*. Benzora. Tinokoa, Mervette, In the Shade and Corinax. Day Guard and Maeroom i were together in the lead crossing the top from Benzora, Mervette, In the Shade. Lucy Rose, and Town Bird. Lucy Rose then put in a run. which took her to the front, and she was first into the straight from Hakanoa, Day Guard. Maeroom, and In the Shade. In the run home Lucy Rose held her own. but had to be ridden out to beat Corinax. who came from well back by a neck In the Shade was only a neck away third, followed by Paitoru. Kinsr Lu, Ti Tree.
