HATCHED IN THE OVEN.—An interesting story surrounds the birth of this Idwi. The egg was found by a Maori lad, and taken to a Kawakawa resident, Mr. G. Wilson. There was evident movement within the shell, and the egg was placed in an oven. Shortly afterwards the little chick pecked his way into the world. Representations are being made to allow the chick to be presented to the Auckland Zoo.
