INFECTIOUS DISEASES.

That more hospital accommodation for infectious diseases is needed in Auckland cannot be questioned. What is doubtful about the Hospital Board's policy is the decision to place the new building-, which it is proposed to make larger than was originally intended, in the present hospital grounds. The hospital as a whole is already one of the largest in the world, and the buildings are scattered, and the question naturally arises whether the system has not reached the stage when administration becomes unduly difficult and costly. The truth is that in this important matter of policy the Board is drifting. It has not really grappled with tlie problem of future hospital accommodation for the district, and in the meantime the hospital system under one ''roof" grows and grows.
