MRS. JOHN MUNRO.

I he death occurred at Mar-den l'oint yesterday alternoon of Mr-. Lean Munro. widow of the late Mr. John Munro. in her SHth year. She was i, ( ,rn :n the I nitcl States, but came of an Knglish family, and could trace her ancestry hack to Kichard Warren, one of the original IMgriiu Fathers. and Major-! ioncra 1 Warren. killed when commanding the British Force at Bunkers Hill. was her grandfather. Mrs. Munro was married in Nova Scotia :i"d accompanied her husband with one of the early bands of settlers who came to Wainti. He was horn in Wellington in ]X(i2, and came to Taupo in ISSI{ tu join his lirother. .Mr. Sam Crowtlier in the well-known coaching business of tho-e days. They opened the load from Taupo to Napier, and ran coaches for many years. They al-o van coaches from Taupo to Tokaanu. where their line connected with Peter's line, through Waiourn to the Taranaki district. Mr. Crowtlier remained in Taupo for 40 years. At one time lie ran a butcher's shop, lint more recently lie had been proprietor of the I.ake Hotel. He was very widely known, especially to tourists and other travellers of the la-t generation.
