BELGIUM STREET.
SUBWAY AND SUBBSIDY,
Trustees of the Auckland Tabernacle and Baptist Church have protested to the City 'Council against the proposed Belgium Street subway. They state that if the subway was made deeper than proposed to enable it to be covered in opposite the Tabernacle Church and buildings a good deal of their grounds for objection would be removed. The letter dealing with the question wae "received" at Thursday evening's meeting of the City Council, also one from the Main Highways Board advising its inability to make a contribution towards the cost of widening and improving Belgium and Day Streets.
