FORMATION IN AUCKLAND.
COUNCIL MAKES A MOVE
FREE TICKETS FOR MEMBERS.
The City Council approved of an outline of a suggested constitution of the Auckland Zoological Society at its meeting on Thursday night. Reporting on the matter, the Parks Comruitee said the objects of the society would be to encourage the study of zoology in the Dominion, and in the Auckland provincial district in particular; to promote a knowledge and interest in the native fninta of X>w Zealand and to encourage its protection ; to provide for the steady acquisition for the Auckland Zoological I'ark of a representative collection of the fauna of the world. Membership of the society is to be open to all interested in the objects of the society who desire to contribute towards its support. The annual subscription of an ordinary member is to be £1 1/, and the subscription of a life member £20 in one sum. Every member is to be entitled to free admission to the Zoological Park on any day of the year, on production of the membership ticket, and he shall also be entitled to six complimentary tickets of admission tor distribution among his friends. Members shall also be entitled to receive, free of charge, one copy of each issue of the Zoo Guide, and any other publications issued by the society. The council suggested that the following officers be included in the initial appointments: Patron, his Excellency the Governor-General: vice-patron, his Worship the Mayor of Auckland fexofficio) : president, Professor J. S. Sper-rin-Johnson: hon. editor, Mr. L T Griffin, F.Z.S.
