MARIST FATHERS.
SUPERIOR-GENERAL'S VISIT. DR. RIEU TO TOUR DOMINION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Superior-general of the Marist Fathers throughout the world, the Very Rev. Dr. Rieu, will arrive in Wellington by the Rangitiki, which is due in Port Nicholson this evening and will berth early to-morrow morning. The Marist Fathers have been estab,:shed in New Zealand for about 90 yea&«, members of the ord ef having been the first Roman Catholic priests to set foot in the young colony, and to-day the Marist Fathers constitute one-third of the Catholic clergy of the Dominion. The visit of the Very Rev. Father Rieu is an event of first-class importance in the history of the Roman Catholic Church in New Zealand. He will be welcomed by the Very Rev. Dr. Kennedy, provincial of the Society of Mary in Australia, and New Zealand, and will, while in Wellington, stay at St. Mary's Presbytery, Boulcott Street. He is to visit all the houses of the society throughout the Dominion.
