VIVISECTION.
Under the above headline I read the ro|>ort of the conference of the Xew Zealand Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals held at Wanganui and was sorry'to find that the remit the Auckland S.P.C.A.* brought forward re vivisection in the Dominion was rejected by the conference. If. as Mr. Salt said, there was no trace of vivisection in Xew Zealand, would it not have been wise for the conference to accept the remit presented by the Auckland S.P.C.A. to show that the New Zealand Society did not intend vivisection to obtain the stronghold here as it ha.< done in other countries, where now they are striving to abolish it? From a pamphlet on research work which I have I fear that vivisection has been practiced in Xew Zealand. It mentions that monkeys were used during the epidemic of infantile paralysis from November, 15>24, to May, 1925, in research work. What about the shipment of monkeys which came to Auckland in 1927 for research work at Dunedin? I. XOBLE.
