PROGRESS OF NORTHCOTE.
COUNCIL CONGRATULATED.
EXCELLENT RECORD RECOGNISED.
Highly complimentary expressions of satisfaction with the excellent record of progress to the credit of their term of office were c-onveyed to the Mayor (Mr. A. E. Greenalade) and Councillors of North cote last evening, at the meeting of the borough council, by a deputation from the Northcote Citizens' Progressive Association.
Mr. Ft. H. Daniel said the progress throughout the boroujrh had been very gratifying, and the desire was general on the part of the residents that the Ma v or and Councillors should continue with their good work. He presented a requisition, which, lie said, was representative of all nortions of the borough, in support of this request.
The Mayor thanked the deputation for their assurances, and the residents
tor their complimentary expressions of confidence and satisfaction. He said there were some matters of the utmost importance to the borough not yet finalised, and in view of this he realised that it would not be right on his part to decline further service at the present juncture. He. therefore, would give the electors an opportunity of expressing their wishes in respect to himself by consenting to nomination for a further term of office.
Messrs. Harry Weaver, A. T. Munn. C. H. Johnston, and W. C. Ellis also agreed to stand for re-election as councillor's. Mr. A. J. Lennon intimated he would not be a candidate, while Messrs. Frank Wilson. P. -T. Ryan, E. J. Fraser and Robert Martin undertook to endeavour to come to an early decision, and individually intimate this to the deputation.
