MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATION.
- jXXSION CONFERENCE OPENS DELEGATES WELCOMED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. The Dominion Conference of the Municipal Associations of New Zealand was opened this morning-. There is a record attendance of delegates, who were welcomed by the Mayor (Mr. W. J. Rogers), the Minister of Labour (the Hon. W. A. Veitch), and the chairman of the Harbour Board (Mr. A. G. Bignell). Messrs. Moffat (Nelson) and Troup (Wellington) replied on behalf of the delegates.
TOWN CLERKS' INSTITUTE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, Tuesday. The annual meeting of the Town Clerks' Institute was held at Wanganui to-day.
Mr. F. M. Matin received, on behalf of his father, Mr. F. F. Matin, who was for 30 years secretary of the Municipal Association, a handsome clock as a token of the members' esteem.
The annual report stated that the membership totalled 66.
A proposal from Nelson for the institution of a superannuation scheme was discussed, and it was decided to ask the Government to provide for such a scheme.
The following officers were elected: President, Mr. P. Skoglund, Stratford; vice-president, Messrs. F. H. Denton (Greymouth), F. Hobbs (Lyttelton), G. A. Edmonds (Nelson), G. Murch (Wanganui), .7. R. Hardie (Palmerston North), and H. Wilson (Newmarket); auditor, Mr. A. .L Gearing, Lower Hutt; executive, Messrs. J. F. Meniies (Sumner), W. F. Sturman (Petone), A. Wilson (Otaki), B. G. Knox (Lower Hutt), and J. T. Bovis (Shannon).
