ROAD WORKER KILLED.

CRUSHED BY FALL OF EARTH.

PALMERSTON N., Tuesday,

Working on the road deviation undertaking at Apiti this morning a young unmarried labourer, Jock Marsden, aged 30 years, met his death through being crashed by a fall of earth.

The scene of the accident is a large cutting which is being made at the top of the hill on the main road leading into Apiti at a point about three miles cn the Feilding side of the township. While Marsden was working a horse dray a fall of earth came down and overwhelmed him. He was apparently killed outright. Formerly of Christchurch, the deceased more recently resided at Palmerston North.
