A NEW CORNER.
ITEMS FROM READERS. CERTIFICATES FOR PUBLISHED PARAGRAPHS. At the time of writing, the results of last week's "New Corner" suggestion are not available, owing to the early preparation of this page. In future, it will be noted that results are announced two weeks after the subject is set. For those who overlooked last week's opening announcement, the conditions and explanations are re-printed below. This week's subject will be the same as last week's. Certificates will be given for all published work. Short and preferably humorous paragraphs, written under a title announced weekly, are invited from readers, and blue (four-point) certificates will be given to all who have paragraphs published. The examples below will serve to show the class and style of matter required. Brevity and humour, where possible, are two essential qualifications for published work. Example: Under the heading "Ambition" one might, in the form of a dream, rise to the heights of one's ambition, and receive blushing honours from the hands of the King. The awakening comes with "Mary, come and wash the dishes!" The above, enlarged and filled out, can easily be contained in 100 words. The subject this week is "About Our House," when humorous, pathetic or babyish incidents are recounted in not more than 100 words.
