Bevan w, ( s charged with receiving from Cordon, between -January 22 and February o, good-s valued at £11 t> ri, knowing them to have been d -iioue-stly obtained. All were remanded till to-morrow. ! ih' date to which the previous charges were '-emanded.
W~hen counsel asked for bail for Richard Ryan, who. he said, was not concerned with breaking into the shop ;uid who would be able to establish a defence. the chief detective said that when the four men were admitted to bail hist week tne facts of the other charges were not known. The shop in Lower Hutt had not only been broken into and goods stolen, but had been set on fire, £o that damage to the extent of £1750 had been done. Bevan alone was allowed bail.
