Both visitor? expect make fast "times'' this year. They have brought with them two high-powered Bugatti cars, one of which will be held in reserve for the mile event. The four main events will be contested. The machine which will attempt the mile record is styled the "Advanx Bug." This name, together with a map of Australia, is painted prominently on the body of the car. Interviewed this morning on the Maunganui, the two motorists were reluctant to speak of their successes, but it was learned that Mr. East has established two records for hill climbs and won first and second prize* at big meetings in the Conirr.<>r.wea:*ii since the last Auckland gathering. Both drivers are in the pink of condition.
