Mr. Brophy. whose message :s timed 10.3.3 p.m. Sunday, says:—"We have intercepted a messaee from the C'itr of New \ork. directed to the Nv.v York Times. She reported that she was proceeding i:h great difficulty throuzh ice more than six inches thick last nig'nt. >he has 20 men on board. In 1912 the Terra Nova did not ieive Captain Scott's winter quarters in M .-Mur-io Sound until early in March, and she c.eared the ice pack on nor return to Lyttelton on March 21.
