VICAR'S CAR OVER A BRIDGE.

ACCIDENT IN FAR NORTH

The Rev. E. Ward, vicar of Kaitaia, was motoring on Sunday afternoon from Mangonui to Orurn, and when crossing the. Taipa Bridge tie car struck a loose plank. Swerving through a gap in the bridge rails the car somersaulted down into the stream. Mr. Ward was pinned under the upturned car in 2ft of water, but he managed to keep his head in the air until help arrived. Mr. Ward was conveyed to Mangonui Hospital, suffering from shock. At high water there is a. depth of from Bft to 10ft at the spot where the mishap occurred.
