The work, which was carried out under the instructions of Mr. William Whitley, a gentleman farmer of Woolst.m. the master of the South Devon fox hound*, who recently figured in the filming of some of Eden PhillJ potts' stories, has just been completed. It is stated locally that it commemorates the defeat of the effort to revise the Prayer Book. Mr. Whitley, who is a native of Lancashire, and has close connections in Liverpool, declined when questioned by London newspaper representatives to state his motive for having the engraving made in sneh a unique spot, but the dates on the stone, loth December. 1917—14 th June, 1928. betrayed that the revisionary measure had influenced the instigator of the inscriptions.
