Progress In Britain In La»t Five Years. LORD PERCYS FIGURES. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. February 14. The President of the Board of Education. Lord Eustace Percy, has issued figures which indicate the progress made in British State school* in the last five years. In" 1928 there were 393.000 full-time pupils in the secondary scboeU in England and Wales, as compered w:m 358,000 at the corresponding date in 1923. In the secondary school; tae average number of pupils per teach-r was 20.7 in 1927 to 1928. comrared with 31.4 in 19-22 to 1923. The numbeT of elasses cor.tainirz more than 50 pupil* in the elementary ■school* had during the same period been greatly reduced.
