The Christehureli solicitor. John Black Bfttchelor. who was charged with theft and fraudulent, application of money, again appeared in Court yesterday, when Mr. E. D. Mo«l<\v. S.M.. wanted a further remand until Monday. Bail was again reiuscd. ' - There, was again a large attendance of the public in Court. Mr. F. D. Sargent, in a-kim: for bail, said that Bntcbcbir had afforded the official assignee. Mr: A. W. Watson, considerable assistance in clearing up matters, and the infinities would take further time. It wa< inconvenient for the official assignee to attend the g;ml. and there was a difficulty about" the hours. Chief Detective Carroll, in applying for the remand, said; "We want an explanation from Batchelor concerning the money of a former client named Walker." Mr. Sargent said a grossly excessive claim had been made against the estate and the official assignee would not pass it. ' Chief Detectiv-?. Carroll said that accused had volunteered to assist the official assignee. . understand that the Walker matter is a very lengthy one," said Mr. Sargent. It will lie impossible for the matter to be cleared up by Monday." "A remand will be granted until Monday. Bail is refused," said the magistrate. °
