SUPERINTENDENT WOHLMANN IN BOX.
REOPENING ON MONDAY MORNING.
After nearly four hours in the witness box, Superintendent Wohlmann concluded his evidence in chief this morning at the inquiry into the conduct of the police concerning the death of Elsie Walker. Near the end of the morning session, counsel cross-examined witness, and at noon, when the Court adjourned, both Mr. L. P. Leary and Mr. Noel Johnson had yet to put their questions. The inquiry was adjourned till 10 a.m. on Monday.
This afternoon the Commissioner, Mr. E. Page, S.M., went to Papamoa. He indicated that he wanted to see the roads which Elsie Walker must have traversed in the car, and also the farm from which she disappeared so mysteriously on the night of October 1. Mr. Page left on his long trip just after one o'clock this afternoon.
