BOARD'S MONTHLY MEETING. j Tlio monthly meeting ot' the Kauri Gum Control P.oarrl was held during (ho week. Mr. M. IT. Wynyard presiding, and Messrs. J. A. Andre. 15. McDougall and C. Davidson attending. Matters dealt with included the consideration of applications for gum brokers' and gum buyers' licenses for the current year, and the applications to tlio Lands Department for the upliftinent of the reservation over certain areas of kauri gum lands, the latter having been referred to the board for report and recommendation. Returns showing particulars of kauri gum exported from New Zealand were received from the Customs Department as under:— December. January. Sales of Government and producers' gum to the amount of about £14,000 were made- during the past month. An inspection was made of the kauri | gum cleaning plant at Penrose now in the course of erection. Good progress is being made, and it is anticipated that the plant will be in operation within two months from date. The returning officer for the elections of producers' representatives to the board reported that Mr. C. Davidson, sitting member for the southern district had been returned unopposed, and that Mr. I'!. McDougall, sitting member for the northern district, had been re-elected.
