HOWICK AFFAIRS.
MKKTINO of town board. Mr. .T. Crawford presided over a. meetin ft of the Howick Town Board last evening. Fire fighting appliances were discussed, and the. clerk was instructed to secure further particulars concerning chemical extinguishers. Permission was given (lie local school committee to hold its annual picnic on the Domain on March 1. Complaints were received concerning the dilapidated state of the public cemetery. It was decided to have the matter attended to, tli? work to be carried out by public tender. Mr. McGuincss dissented from the decision, on the ground that the. cemetery account was in debit. It was resolved not to grant p?rmils for the removal of sand from any of the benches under the board's control. During a discussion on roads, the opinion was expressed that there were no first-class roads in the board's area. It was agreed therefore to classify highways in the district second, third, fourth and fifth class.
