OUR COMPETITION CORNER.
A particularly fascinating competition— a "Jumbled Quotation" competition—is to be conducted this week. Twenty simple quotations have been taken from a book of quotations, and have been split in half so that each quotation takes up two lines. These lines have been carefully separated, all the top lines being numbered from 1 to 20, and all the bottom lines between 20 and 40. Your task is simple. You must write down all the lines numbered from 1 to 20, and try to find them partners from the lines numbered 21 to 40. When you have done this you must write the two lines down together, and beside them (in brackets) the number of the sentence to which it is coupled. For example number 1 is plainly coupled with number 30, and so vould be written: (1) Under a spreading chestnut tree, (30) The village smithy stands. As in last week's competition, thre •» a likelihood of competitors tying for prizes, so to decide where ties are inevitable, a joke MUST accompany each entry submitted. Prizes of 7/6, 6/, 5/, 3/, and four prizes of 2/6.
