POTTY AND SQUEEDEE.
b.r BLANCHE SILVER for PETER TAN.) When Dotty and Squeedee, the -wee elfin from Joy land, came upon the little doorway leading down under the old ■tump, Dotty jumped up and down, (dapping her hands. "Oh, Squeedee, please let's go down and see who lives there," she begged. Squeedee laughed merrily and, touching Dotty with his magic feather, which he wore in his hat, ho made her grow smaller and smaller until she was no larger than he, and together, hand in hand, they entered the little doorway. "Don't know whether weTJ rind Mrs. Chipmunk at home or not," Squeedee laughed. i "Oh. is this where Mrs. Chipmunk lives'." asked Dotty. "Oh, I hope she is at home, and we are to see her." "You get your wish, my dear," chattered a merry voice, when Dotty and Squeedee came to the end of the long, tunnel-like hall, which widened into "a good-sized room. "Come right in, please," and Mrs. Chipmunk, surrounded by her little babies, welcomed Squeedee and Dotty. "I'm so glad to find you are a friend of Squeedee, Miss Dotty, for his friends are ours, you know." "Oh, goodness," Dotty laughed, when •he looked around and saw so many doors opening into other rooms. "What are all these rooms Tor, anyway? Surely JOTT don't sleep in all of them!" "No, indeed." chattered Mrs. Chipmunk. "Those other rooms are our ■torerooms. Do you know, Squeedee, we have had a terrible time. Our cousin, Mr. Red Squirrell, has been robbing our ■torerooms and Daddy Chipmunk had to build them quite near, so we can hear him when he comes."
