THE LATE MR. W. J. HANDLEY

MASONIC FUNERAL.

One of the largest Masonic assemblages ever seen on the North Shore attended the funeral on Sunday afternoon of the latn Mr. W. J. Handley, I.P. District Oand Master of the Grand Lodge °f __ Scotland. At the graveside in O'N'rjlPs Point Cemetery, Canon Young conducted the funeral service, after which a masonic ceremony was held. Mr. J. Hume, District Grand Secretary, officiated, supported by prominent officials of the Order.

Many representative citizens were present, including Mr. E. H. Potter, Mayor of Mount Eden; Messrs. W. Wallace and W. K. Howitt, of the Hospital Board. The Mayor of Devonport, and members and officials of the Devonport Borough Council, together with the office bearers of many local institutions, testified to the general esteem of the late Mr. W. J. Handley.

The Mayor of Devonport delivered a eulnjßfiuin to the deceased gentleman as a nian and a citizen. "Connected for 17 years with the civic life of this borough, he faithfnlly discharged his many onerous duties," declared Mr. -Aldiidge, "and lightly ranked in importance with the early Mayors of the borough— Malcolm Niccol, W. J. Macky and the Ihm. K. W. Alison." Hundley, sons of the deceased, were chief mourners.
