PRESIDENT'S TO MOSQUE.

THE BEGUM HOME IN SPRINT.

The animal meeting of the Rotorua Ttacinp Club was concluded yesterday in beautiful weather. There was a large attendance, and the course was in good order. During the day the sum of £20,982 was put through the totalisator, an increaso of £850 10/ compared with the corresponding day last year. This made a total of £44,902 10/ for the meeting against £42.481 for the previous annual fixture, an increase of £2481 10/. The earlier winners were:—Maurea (High-weight), Prince Yal (Electric), TJnoco (Hack Cup), and Mosque (President's—the principal event of the day). A Small Field. Only four runners went to the post In the Retinie Handicap, The Thorn ( £844) being made a good favourite, with High Tide ( £540) and Lucy Rose ( £411) also well backed. As they raced out of the straight Lucy Rose showed the way to The Thorn, High Tide and Red Day, but crossing the top The Thorn ra'n into the load with Lucy Rose and High Tide next. Lucy Rose had taken charge again as they turned for homo and finishing full of running she had no trouble to defeat The Thorn by one length and a-half, with High Tide • similar distance away in third place.

The Begum Captures Borough. Macroom, who had started earlier in the day, was withdrawn from the Borough Handicap, and wjien backers cot to work they made The Begum (who carried £800) a decided favourite, with eood support for Ti Tree (£566), and Branson (£479). The favourite was first away, and was in front throughout to eventually win by half a-length. When they were let go The Begum began quickest from Town Bird, Ti Tree, Lady's Boy, Liaison, and Branson. Town Bird and The Begum were on terms across the top, and turned for home lengths clear of Branson and Lady's Boy. Branson came fast over the last furlong, but failed to reach The Begum by half a-lengtb, with Ti Tree one and a-half lengths away. Liaison was fourth, next to finish being Hakanoa, Lady's Boy and Town Bird.

Favourite Wine Flying Stakes. All the acceptors went to the post in tile Flying Stakes, with Snow Prince (£759) elected favourite, while Sea Cob 11581) and Kiri (£445) also bad plenty of friends. Handstitch was first out, ■with Snow Prince, Kiri and Loving Cup racing next, and as they ran along the back the order was Handstitch, Snow Prince, Loving Cup, Kiri, Ding Dong and Sea Cob, with Red Lion last. Snow Prince was in command across the top, with Loving Cup and Sea Cob as his nearest attendants, and the trio came Into the straight practically on terms, with Handstitch and Kiri following. Snow Prince then forged ahead, and was two lengths clear of Sea Cob when they passed the post, with Loving Cup a similar .distance away in third place. Bed Lion wag next, followed by Hand•titch, Kiri and Ding Dong.

Aα Outsider Scores. Seven paraded for the Farewell Handicap, with which the meeting concluded. Lβ Choucas (£1127), Prince Lu (£502) •nd The Thorn (£400) were most in request. Prince Lu ran through the tapes and bolted about six furlongs before being pulled up. When the barrier lifted. The Jack Jumper was left, and took no part in the race. Prince Lu led out of the straight from Le Choucus, Cynthia N. and New Moon. Cynthia N. ran to the front along the back, being attended by Prince Lir, Le Choucus, New Moon and Baby Bun, with The Thorn last. Cynthia N. had opened up a good break on the others as they crossed the top, New Moon, Lβ Choucus and The Thorn being her nearest attendants. Cynthia N. went on to win easily by three lengths from New Moon, who beat Le Choucus by a length. Then came The Thorn, Baby Bun and Prince Lu. Later results:—
