WAITEMATA—WATERS OF AFFLICTION.
I am thankful to one of your correspondents for having given me, unconsciously, no doubt, an appropriate application for our once beautiful harbour —vide the illustration in the "'Star' on Thursday evening. Only last Monday I interviewed a noted authority on the subject of pollution, stating I had heard of a man bathing at Kohimarama, and. on seeing undissolved portions of matter lloating past him, rushing out of the water disgusted. I was then informed that this was not to be discredited, though it may have come in this instance from Devonport. Having lost a girl last Easter as the outcome of bathing at Parnell baths, I surely have occasion to be concerned. How long are lives to be gambled with in this manner? It has been recommended. I understand, to carry the sewerage per medium of a tunnel to Manuka u Heads, and it does seem this is the only solution. ARTHUR CMMIXGS. "
