TRANSACTIONS ON 'CHANGE.

II he first calls of a new week were characiorised by ready bidding, recent prices being fully maintained. It does not appear likely that the financial stringency in the Old Country, which lias brought about the reduction in the Bank of England rate, and the weakening of gilt edge issues is likely to have mucli effect here. Actually these were increased this morning, as well as for ccytain local bodv debentures. Waihi Mines received special attention, and sales were recorded at both calls. Auckland Gas are still in keen demand, and up to £1 4/2 was paid, after which sellers raised their limit to £1 4/4. A weakening is shown in Hikurangi Coal shares, due no doubt to the uncertainty of the position following upon the flooding of the mine. BUSINESS DONE. AT THE 10 A.M.
